
Cobos Earns Second Summit League Player of the Week Honor of Year

ELMHURST, Ill. - IPFW senior Andres Cobos has earned his second Summit League Player of the Week honor this season and the third of his career after sporing a 2-1 singles record and a 2-0 doubles mark during the weekend.
Cobos, playing at No. 2 singles and doubles, opened the weekend with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Western Michigan's Ruben Greiner in singles, while his doubles match against the Broncos went unfinished. A day later against Green Bay, he picked up his only loss of the week to his opponent from Green Bay by a 7-6 (10-8), 6-1 score; however, teamed with Daniel Cardenas for a 7-5 win in doubles against the Phoenix. On Sunday at Wright State, Cobos needed three sets, but swept the final two over Ricardo Pena by a 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 score, while he and Cardenas won 6-4 at No. 2 pairs.
For the year, Cobos is 11-9 in singles; however is a strong 6-2 during the spring, going 2-1 at No. 2 singles and 4-1 at No. 3. He is 9-5 overall in doubles, while sporting a perfect 6-0 mark during the spring with Cardenas at No. 2.
The Mastodons have the upcoming weekend without a match, but return to action on February 20 and 21 with matches at Marquette and UIC.
