
Women's Tennis Prepares for Three-Match Home Weekend

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's tennis team will put its undefeated 2-0 record on the line this weekend, as the squad hosts the Eastern Michigan Eagles, Illinois State Redbirds, and Youngstown State Penguins in a series of matches at Empowered Sports Club.

Who: Eastern Michigan Eagles (0-2), Illinois State Redbirds (0-1), and Youngstown State (1-1)
When: Friday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Eastern Michigan comes into the weekend with an 0-2 mark, falling to Michigan State by a 5-2 score and to Detroit 4-3.
Ani Gogvadze is 2-0 for the Eagles in singles during the spring at No. 2 singles, and is 8-10 overall including the fall. Klara Supejova has a team-best 9-7 record this year, as Alejandra Barcelo is 8-8.Â
Doubles is where the Eagles have excelled this season with a 30-23 overall record (56.6%) including the pair of Barcelo and Daphne Friedrichs going 11-6.
SCOUTING THE REDBIRDS
Illinois State is 0-1 on the season, falling in its season-opener to Illinois by a 7-0 score.
Kadi Ilves is 7-5 on the season, and 0-1 at No. 1 singles, while Chanel Scudiero is 6-3, 0-1 at No. 5 singles.
In doubles, Cricket Gelderman and Natalia Parchowski are 6-3 overall, as the Redbirds have a 12-16 record in doubles between the fall and the 2015 year opener.
SCOUTING THE PENGUINS
Youngstown State is 1-1 on the young season with a 4-3 loss to Duquesne and a 7-0 win over Bowling Green.
This spring, three players, led by No. 1 player Marta Burak is 2-0. Annina Brendel (No. 3 singles) and Nehel Sahni (No. 4 singles) are also undefeated in the spring. Dominika Lackova is 9-6 this season to lead the Penguins.
The Penguins are a combined 10-19 in doubles during the fall and spring, with the pair of Burak and Lackova going 5-6, including 0-2 at No. 1 pairs.
