Andres Cobos Earns Second Career Player of Week Honor

ELMHURST, Ill. - IPFW senior Andres Cobos has earned his second career Summit League Player of the Week honor on Tuesday morning, a weekend after sweeping through the competition with a perfect 3-0 record in both singles and doubles action.
Cobos, who at 3-0 on the year, has the best record of all Summit League tennis student-athletes.,Playing the No. 3 singles position, he posted straight-set victories over Chicago State's Julian Chavez (2 and 2) and St. Francis' Eli Cerdan (3 and 1) to lead the Mastodons to team victories. He accounted for his team's point in a loss to Illinois State by rallying to post a 0-6, 7-5, 6-2 win over Jacob Wilson. Cobos teamed with Daniel Cardenas at No. 2 doubles to score 6-2 victories in each of his team's three matches.
Including the fall Cobos is 8-7 on the season, and 6-5 in doubles matches.
The Mastodons (2-1 on the year) take to the road for the first time in 2015 with a January 30 match against the Valparaiso Crusaders, before returning home a day later for a January 31 battle against Youngstown State at 2 pm. at Empowered Sports Club.
