IPFW Women's Tennis Picked Second by League Coaches

ELMHURST, Ill. - The IPFW women's tennis team has been picked to finish second by the league coaches in the Summit League preseason coaches poll, announced by the league office.
The Mastodons earned 41 points and one first-place vote, just behind Denver's 49 points and seven first place votes. South Dakota State (33), South Dakota (27), Omaha (23), Oral Roberts (22), IUPUI (21), and Western Illinois (6) round out the teams in the field.
IPFW, the 2014 Summit League Tournament runner-up, returns 2014 Summit League Player and Newcomer of the Year in Mayu Sato, in addition to five other players who saw significant action during the season.Â
During the fall, Sato went 8-3 in singles, while Carlota Trevino was 7-5 and newcomer Sara Sherif 4-2. Sato and Marcy Huck combined to go 8-2 in doubles, with Kristine Lindal and Trevino going 4-2 in pairs.
The squad opens its spring season on January 23 when the team hosts Chicago State and Saint Francis at noon and 8 p.m., respectively.
