
Women's Tennis Wins Third Straight in Home Finale

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - In the home finale for the 2014 women's tennis team - including the last home match in Miloslava Shustova's career. The Mastodons dominated behind a sweep of the doubles matches and four singles wins, as the Mastodons topped the St. Bonaventure Bonnies by a 5-2 score.
The win is the third straight for the Mastodons, and the team's ninth win in the last 11 matches. The win also improves the team to 13-8 on the year, and the team's next win will guarantee a winning season.
Emily Richardson and Shustova teamed up at No. 2 doubles, to earn the Mastodons the doubles point, as the Bonnies only brought five players with the team, giving IPFW forfeit victories at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. For good measure, the No. 1 doubles team of Mayu Sato and Marcy Huck picked up an 8-4 win to earn IPFW the sweep of doubles play.
The forfeit victory at No. 6 singles put IPFW ahead 2-0, as Huck followed with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 to put the hosts ahead 3-0. The match was clinched soon after with a Shustova 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles, putting the Mastodons ahead 4-0.
Sato completed the 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, which put her season record at a remarkable 19-2 in the spring and 25-8 overall in her freshman season. Trailing 5-0, St. Bonaventure closed the match with two wins, at No. 2 and No. 3 singles.
The squad travels west to Denver, Colo., where the team will face off in a pair of non-conference matches against Metro State and Colorado State-Pueblo before seeing Omaha, Denver, and South Dakota in the second of two Summit League clusters.
