Awards Banquet Highlights Student-Athlete Achievements

Fort Wayne, IN - Four-time Summit League Player of the Year Amy Recht, and seniors Ben Botts of the men's basketball team and Darryl Shank of the men's volleyball squad, were named the 2011 Female and Co-Male Athletes of the Year at the Mastodons' year-end awards banquet held at the Marriot Marquis Ballroom.
The event, emceed by IPFW's own Rudy Yovich, honored members of every team, in addition to specific all-athletic awards.
Volleyball's Mayara Schlindwein and basketball's Jordan Zuppe were named 2011 Co-Female Senior Athletes of the Year, and baseball's Will Faulkner was named the 2011 Male Senior Athlete of the Year.
Six IPFW student-athletes were recognized as David R. Skelton Award Nominees: Zach Plackemeier from men's basketball, A.J. Risedorph from baseball, Ingrid Ballus from women's tennis, Melanie Esposito and Ali Okihiro of women's soccer, and Kristina Karpun of softball, with Okihiro and Karpun sharing the award. Okihiro was also honored with the 2011 Student-Athlete Sportsmanship Award.
The IPFW Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) Service to Student-Athletes Award went to strength and conditioning coach Kevin Rudolphi, and the Fan of the Year was given to Curt Ransom.
Carl Sipe, host for men's volleyball, was given the Tony Laux Volunteer of the Year Award.
The following student-athletes were selected to individual team honors by their respective coaches.
