Participation in the IPFW Co-Ed Cheer Program is available to undergraduate students of IPFW and Ivy-Tech students of Crossroads. (Read more about Crossroads below.) IPFW Cheerleaders perform throughout both Men's and Women's Basketball seasons, at home games as well as traveling with the teams to the Summit League tournament in Sioux Falls, SD. Cheerleaders also participate in a variety of community parades and other local events.

The Crossroads program allows students of Ivy-Tech to participate in a variety of athletic and intramural teams, as well as other student activities not offered by their own college. Learn more about the Crossroads program by contacting the Department of Human Resources at 260-481-6424.

Cheerleading Squad Requirements

The IPFW Co-Ed Cheerleading Squad consists of 12 female positions and 6 male positions. Select squad members may be retained from previous season based on skill level, those individuals will be exempt from tryouts.

Cheerleaders must be able to interact with fans one-on-one and from a distance. They must also have a positive attitude, be athletically fit, and well groomed.

Female Requirements

Cheer Skills:
Single Jumps, Double Toe-touch (no prep in between jumps)

Tumbling Skills:
Standing Back Hand-spring or Back Tuck (attempt - no spot)                                              
Power Round-off, Toe-touch, Back Hand-spring or Back Tuck

Stunting Skills:
Fly Toss Hands, cradle (partner)  
Base Post-up to Hands (assisted partner)           
Fly or Base Express Full (group)                                       
Fly or Base Liberty-Heel Stretch (group)                        
Fly Full Down (attempt from one group stunt)

Male Requirements

Pike Jump, Toe-touch
