Cross Country Races to 1-2 Finish at George Dales Invitational

Kalamazoo, MI-The Men's and Women's Cross Country teams both ran well at the George Dales Invitational hosted by Western Michigan, placing first and second respectively.  The finishes were season-highs for both teams.

The men's team was led by Hunter Paris who finished more than a minute ahead of the pack with a time of 26:00 in the 8k.  Russel Wilk finished in fourth place with a time of 27:16; it was a personal best for Wilk.  Randall Quirk (27:23/5th), Garret Bradtmueller (27:28/7th), Mark Green (27:54/9th), and Ryan Perry (28:06/10th) all finished in the top ten for IPFW.

On the women's side, the Martinez twins got out of the gate early and held the lead, finishing 1-2 in the meet.  Crystina (18:01/1st) and Crystal (18:02/2nd) both ran personal bests in the 5k, easily securing the top two spots by more than 15 seconds.  Susie Odipo (18:42/7th), Valerie Hardesty (19:01/13th), and Ashley Porter (19:19/15th) rounded out the top-five finishers for the women.

Head Coach Mike Fruchey stated, "Both teams ran well, and this was a really good tune-up meet for the upcoming [Summit League] conference championships.

The Mastodon's next stop will be in Macomb, IL for the Summit League Championships on October 28, 2007.
