Mike Fruchey enters his ninth season as Head Women's Cross Country Coach and sixth season as Head Women's Track and Field coach at IPFW.

During his tenure, the women's cross country team has improved its NCAA Great Lakes Region placing each year and this past fall won IPFW's first Summit League Championship in any sport. This accomplishment earned Fruchey Summit League "Coach of the Year" honors. Individually in 2007, Crystina Martinez was IPFW's first NCAA Great Lakes All-Region Runner and also the first United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Academic All-American.

Prior to coaching at IPFW, Fruchey had spent three years as a volunteer coach at Taylor University and three years as a volunteer coach at Carroll High School.

Coach Fruchey holds a Master's degree in Physics from Ball State University and a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Taylor University. He also has attained a USATF Level II Coaching Certification in Endurance and is certified as a USATF Level 1 Instructor.
