Stephen Florio begins his seventh season with IPFW. Florio has 10 years of NCAA Division I coaching experience, as well as an additional 10 years of high school, junior high school, and USAV Juniors coaching experience. He also serves as the AVCA Assistant Coaches Representative for Division I for the Summit League.

Prior to IPFW, Florio served four years as an assistant coach at Hofstra University. While there, he assisted in leading the Pride to two conference championships and back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances in 1999 and 2000.

Florio's eight years of high school experience is highlighted by five years as the head coach of the boys varsity volleyball team for Division Ave./MacArthur High School in Levittown, N.Y. While there, Florio led the team to its first-ever playoff appearance in 2000 and a Nassau County Conference II-A Championship in 2003. After helping the team to the conference championship, Florio was named Conference Coach of the Year.

During the summers of 2005 and 2006, Florio served as head coach of the Great Lakes High Performance Team at the USA High Performance Tournament. In 2006, he lead the team to a third place finish at the tournament and a bronze medal. It was the first time the Great Lakes Region had won a medal.

Since the summer of 1993, Florio has lent his experience to camps and clinics at the University of Illinois, Ball State University, Bowling Green State University, Syracuse, Hofstra, IPFW, the Premier Elite Camp, World Volleyball Training Center, and the Great Lakes High Performance Camp.

He played two years of volleyball at Nassau (N.Y.) Community College in 1994 and 1995 before transferring to NCAA Division I St. Francis College (Pa.) and playing two years for the Red Flash. At Nassau, he helped the Lions to a regional championship in 1994 and a runner-up spot in 1995. At St. Francis, Florio served as a defensive specialist for the Red Flash.

Florio received a bachelor's degree in marketing from St. Francis (Pa.) in 1998 and a master's degree in secondary education from Dowling College in 2002.
