Women's Tennis Drops Opener :: Mastodons Fall to Cleveland State, 5-2.

Fort Wayne, IN - The IPFW women's tennis squad dropped their season-opener this weekend at the Wildwood Racquet Club. The 'Dons fell to visiting Cleveland State, 5-2.

IPFW got wins from freshman Amy Recht at No. 1 singles and from senior Ashley Coulson at No. 3 singles.

Recht topped CSU's Melissa Holzinger in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0.

Coulson needed a tie-break to get past Jenn Myers, 2-6, 7-5, 10-5.

The match was also the season-opener for the Vikings (1-0).

The IPFW women' return to action on Saturday evening at Austin Peay. The Mastodons will face off against the Lady Governors at 6:00 p.m.
