Valparaiso, IN-IPFW took an 8-0 loss to Valparaiso University this afternoon in the first game of a double header. Valpo pitchers Stephanie Kelly and Carrie Franson combined for a no-hitter in game one; it's the first game this season that the 'Dons have not managed to connect for a single hit. The 'Dons were run-ruled in the fifth inning after IPFW reliever Jenna Connelly gave up a homerun to lead-off batter Ashley Wolter. Despite a lack of hits, the 'Dons still had a few key chances with seven runners left on base. In game two, the 'Dons battled back with seven hits, but were unable to capitalize, taking a 6-1 loss. Leading IPFW offensively was outfielder Beatrice Pedraza. Pedraza hit 2 for 3 in the game with her first double of the year, as well as an RBI. Fellow outfielder Katy Stephens was also 2 for 3 in game 2. The 'Dons will be on the road on Wednesday as well to take on Michigan State. The first pitch will be thrown out at 3:30 p.m. ~Dons~
