IPFW Drops Pair to Cleveland State



Freshman Tara Mickelson Led the 'Dons Offensively Going 3 for 6 on the Day

Fort Wayne, IN-Playing their first set of games in nearly two weeks due to winter-like weather, the 'Dons were swept by Cleveland State 5-2, 7-0.

IPFW and CSU traded runs early in game one to go into the seventh tied 2-2.  In the top of the inning, the Vikings turned it on scoring three runs off of four hits.

The Mastodons were unable to answer back taking a 5-2 loss.  Freshman pitcher Kayla Powell took the IPFW loss dropping her to 2-4 on the season.

Offensively, IPFW was led by rightfielder Tara Mickelson and shortstop Ty Lambert who both went 2 for 3 in game one; Mickelson also had an RBI in the game.

In game 2, the 'Dons got shut out by CSU 7-0.  IPFW struggled offensively and defensively with only 3 hits, while commiting 3 errors as well.

Sophomore Katie Aspegren took the loss for the 'Dons in game 2, giving up 6 hits and 6 earned runs.  Aspegren is 1-8 on the year.

The 'Dons will travel to Detroit on Thursday afternoon to face the Titans in a double header.  Game one will begin at 3:00 p.m.
