Fort Wayne, IN- Thanks to a memorable 2009 season, IPFW freshman Lisa Underwood has earned three all-conference honors, as voted on by Summit League coaches.

Underwood, a Fort Wayne native, was selected to the all-conference first team and all-freshman team, as well as being named freshman of year. She was one of two freshmen to earn all-conference accolades.

Playing in 17 games for the Mastodons, Underwood ended the season near the top of many conference statistical categories. She led the Summit League in goals scored with 11, and finished third in the conference in total shots (54) and total points (24). Underwood’s season goal and point totals were also IPFW women’s soccer school records.

IPFW head women's soccer coach Margaret Saurin had this to say about Underwood's accomplishments.

"Lisa has been a very important part of our success this year, and it is an honor for her to know that the other coaches in our conference think so highly of her to vote her as freshman of the year. We have seen a number of freshmen in the conference this year have a great seasons. It has been a competitive year for that award, so it is extra special to see Lisa win the award. Being named to the all-conference first team as a freshman along side upperclassmen is also a great honor for Lisa and the program. In just one season, she has set school records and her performances have helped us helped us win important games this year. I am delighted for Lisa and her family and look forward to her continuing success as a member of the IPFW women's soccer team."

IUPUI teammates Alicia Brook and Stephanie Hoffman won offensive player of the year and defensive player of the year, respectively. Jaguars head coach Chris Johnson was named coach of the year.
