Apar/Lynn Grab USC Weekly Honors
Fort Wayne, IN- On the eve of the 2006 United Soccer Conference Tournament, the final USC Players of the Week have been selected, in voting conducted by conference sports information directors. Junior Anika Apar Offensive Player of the Week: Anika Apar Junior/Forward/IPFW Apar, the 2005 USC Tournament Most Outstanding Offensive Player, scored the game-winning goal, and added an assist in IPFW's 3-2 win over Mid-Continent Conference Opponent Southern Utah. Apar's three-point afternoon helped the Mastodons to a 2-0-1 record over future Mid-Con opponents this year. ![]() Senior Shannon Lynn Defensive Player of the Week: Shannon Lynn Senior/GK/IPFW Lynn, playing her last home game at IPFW's Hefner Stadium, made 10 saves in IPFW's 3-2 win over Southern Utah. She made three one-on-one saves in the match, two after the ‘Dons had taken the lead for good. The match was played in less than ideal conditions with 40 mile per hour wind gusts. For her career, Lynn has been named the DPW on six different occasions. Newcomer of the Week: Lorraine Thompson/Freshman/MF/North Dakota State Thompson registered her first career hat trick with three goals against Howard on Sunday, Oct. 29... Her nine goals and 19 points lead the Bison. It is Thompson's second NOW honor this season. IPFW opens up USC Tournament play tomorrow night at 5:30pm vs. Longwood University. ~Dons~ |
