Fort Wayne, IN- Former Mastodon standout goalkeeper Shannon Lynn has been added to the Scottish National Team, according to the team’s head coach Anna Signeul.

Lynn, a native of Brampton, Ontario, was the Mastodon's goalkeeper from 2004-2006. In three seasons, she accumulated 294 career saves, producing nine shutouts along the way. In 2005 and 2006, she posted back-to-back 100-save seasons (102 and 105).

After finishing her eligibility in 2006, Shannon served as a student assistant coach with the Mastodons until she graduated in December of 2007 with a degree in General Studies. Following graduation, Lynn played locally in the W-League with the Fort Wayne Fever in 2007 and 2008 before being called up to W-League rivals FC Indiana. At the time, FC Indiana was one of the top professional club teams in the world. In 2009, Lynn led the W-League in goals against average (0.166), shutouts (10), and wins (10).

Currently, she is a member of the Scottish Women's Premier League for Hibernian Football Club, which is based in Edinburgh. Lynn's parents immigrated to Canada from Scotland, which makes her eligible to compete for the Scottish National Team. While Shannon chose to move to Scotland to play with Hibernian with the intention of attracting attention from the national team, her selection still took her by surprise.

"I never take anything for granted," Lynn said. "Even though I've been working to get into the national team it still shocked me when I found out but obviously I couldn't be happier."

IPFW head coach Margaret Saurin expressed her delight for Shannon.

"Any time you get the opportunity to represent your national team it's a great honor. Shannon is an outstanding person and an excellent goalkeeper so I could not be more proud of her or happier for her. I know she'll give absolutely everything she has at the camp and I look forward to seeing her represent Scotland on the field for years to come."
