Ladies Finish Off an Outstanding Year
Fort Wayne, IN -- IPFW Women's Golf places all five ladies on the All-Independent Honorable Mention teams for 2005-06 seasons.
Stephanie Hoppes, Nicolle Geyer and Alison Rathsman were named Honorable Mention for the All-Independent team. Hoppes and Geyer were named last year to the Honorable Mention team as well.
Rathsman doubled up and was also named Honorable Mention to the All-Newcomer team. Abbey Waltke and Jacque Speece were also named Honorable Mention All-Newcomer for the 2005-06 season.
Rathsman finished out a solid freshman season with an 83.5 average. She took eighth at the Loyola Rambler Invitational and tied for 13th at the IPFW Fall Classic.
Waltke finished with an 85 average after her first season. Her best finish came at the UC/UD Collegiate Invitational with a 15th place finish.
Speece scored an 87 average and took 16th at the Loyola Rambler Invitational.
Hoppes finished off her second year on the IPFW Golf team with an 89.05 average. Her best finish this year came at the Loyola Rambler Invitational at 14th.
Geyer just missed out on All-Academic, finishing out the spring semester with a cumulative GPA of 3.18. She finished with an 87.09 average and had her best finish at the UC/UD Collegiate Invitational, taking 4th place. She also took 11th at the Loyola Rambler Invitational and tied for 20th at the Butler Spring Invitational.
"To have all five players receive their awards is an outstanding accomplishment on their parts," said Head Golf Coach Jeff Marsh. "They competed in some big tournaments against some very good teams and they are very deserving of these awards. I look forward to the next few years as they continue their improvement."
