2007 Women's Golf All-Independent Teams Release

Edinburg, TX - IPFW's Jillian Speece received two nods in the All-Independent ranks for her performance in the 2006-07 season. Speece, a freshman from Granger, IN, was named to the Second Team All-Independent and All-Newcomer teams.
Speece wrapped up 06-07 with an average of 82.8. She finished in the top five at the Butler Spring Invitational and the top 10 at Centenary Ladies Spring Invite and Wiscon Corp. Invitational. Speece played in 11 tournaments in her first season as a Mastodon.
Her single round low was a 77 at the Butler Spring Invitational and her three round tournament low was a 246 at the Lady Irish Invite.
"I am very happy for Jillian, its a wonderful honor for her." said Head Coach Jeff Marsh. "Not only to receive the Newcomer award but to also receive the Second Team All-Independent Award shows how much Jillian has worked on her golf game at the same time working hard in the classroom to obtain a 3.46 GPA. Jillian is a very good example of an IPFW Student Athlete and we are proud to have her as part of the IPFW Golf Program."
UC Davis' Bryana Gregory, Sydney Roughton and Coach Kathy DeYoung took the top honors in the Independent ranks. Gregory was named Golfer of the Year as a sophomore with a 75.2 average. Roughton was the Newcomer of the Year with a 76.9 average and DeYoung was named Coach of the Year.
