Fort Wayne, IN - The IPFW Women's Basketball team wrapped up the holiday weekend serving lunch at the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission on Sunday.

"I had so much fun." said freshman Sarah Haluska. "I plan on going back. It felt good to help out and make a difference."

The ladies served lunch on Sunday to 125-150 patrons of the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission. They served the meal, did the dishwashing and clean-up and visited with the guests.

"The experience at the Rescue Mission really made me appreciate what I have." said freshman Kayla Kovach. "I had a good time volunteering as well."

"I had a lot of fun helping out at the Rescue Mission." Assistant Coach Hilary O'Connell added. "It was a great opportunity to give a little back to the community. It is definitely something we would love to do again and look forward to doing. It was a great experience for everyone."

Last year the Fort Wayne Rescue Ministries served over 148,000 meals to those who came in looking for a hot, nourishing meal. They also provided 36,000 nights of lodging to formerly homeless individuals. They have served the Fort Wayne community since 1903 through the Rescue Mission (for men), Charis House (for women) and Bargains Galore, a thrift store.
