Townsend ran a time of 28:27 (30th) in the Western Illinois Early Bird. Put in a time of 27:57 (65) at the Mel Brodt Invitational. Placed 11th (28:17.35) at the George Dales Invitational.

Townsend ran for the Spartans under Coach Shenfeld.

Personal

Ben, the son of Jim Townsend and Rhonda Hammond, is seeking a degree in Business. He has two brothers, Mike and Joe.
