Fort Wayne, IN – IPFW men’s volleyball sophomore outside hitter Darryl Shank has been named the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Player of the Week for his outstanding performance in last weekend’s matches versus Grand Canyon University. This is Shank’s first career MIVA Player of the Week recognition. In IPFW’s 3-1 (30-19, 32-34, 30-28, 30-26) win over the Grand Canyon Antelopes on Friday, February 13, Shank recorded a career-high 26.0 points (22 kills, adding 10 digs, four assist blocks and two service aces) while hitting .292. In Saturday’s 3-0 (30-17, 30-27, 30-20) win, Shank only played in two sets but recorded a team-high 13.5 points: nine kills, three digs, two solo blocks an assist block and a service ace while hitting .471. On the weekend, Shank averaged 5.17 kills, 2.17 digs, and 1.17 blocks per set while hitting .338. Shank currently ranks 29th in the nation in kills-per-set (3.62). The ‘Dons return to action Friday, February 20, when they host St. Francis (PA) at 7:00 PM. ~Dons~
