2007 Season Jason Yhost was a second semester transfer to IPFW from San Diego Mesa College. He played his way into the Mastodons lineup with an outstanding tournament at the Long Beach State Active Ankle Classic and never left. In 94 games, Yhost averaged 2.09 kills per game from the opposite position. He had a hitting percentage of .300. The lefty fired off 17 service aces in 2007. He also set up 28 kills. Yhost totaled 101 kills which was good enough for 1.97 per game. He had six solo blocks and 34 block assists. Slugged a season-high .583 at Quincy on 4/14. He also hit over .500 against the Mercyhurst Lakers (.529) at the Hilliard Gates Sports Center on 4/21. Yhost regiestered a career-high 18 kills in IPFW's NCAA Semi-Final win over #1 Pepperdine. He had a second-best 16 kills at Saint Francis (PA) on 3/23 and followed that up with 16 more at Penn State the next night. Had a season-high 21.0 points at Quincy on 4/14. Dug up a career-high 13 balls against those same Hawks on 3/31 in Fort Wayne. Blasted four aces against Mercyhurst College on two occasions in 2007 (3/30 and 4/21). Had a career-high 7 total blocks (3 solo, 4 block assists) vs. Quincy on 4/14. Had 6 block assists at Lewis on 4/5. High School Yhost played opposite for head coach Kim Samaniego at Mira Mesa High School in San Diego, California. He was named First Team All-Western League in both the 2003 and 2004 seasons.
