2008 Season Pliske played in all but one match for the Mastodons last year, playing in at least three sets a match during 22 matches. He recorded a team-high 234 digs (2.46 digs per set) which trumped his phenominal freshman numbers by 0.72 D/S. and passed 572 serves (.960 success rate). Pliske had 19 assists in his sophomore season, including a season-high, four at George Mason on 3/29. Recorded at least 10 digs in 12 matches, including five consecutive double-digit dig figures from 3/29-4/11 during which he dug 55 total attacks. 2007 Season Matt Pliske filled a huge void with the injury to starting Libero Mike Morici in the 2007 season. How good was Pliske's debut? He was named the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Assocation Co-Freshman of the Year. He averaged 1.74 digs per game. He had a season-high 18 digs at Lewis on 4/5. He also had double-dig matches against Quincy (13), at Long Beach State in the LBSU Active Ankle Classic (12), and against UC-Santa Barbara (11). Had a season-high four assists against Loyola-Chicago on 1/19. High School Pliske was a double threat at Christian Brothers College High School as a student and an athlete. He was the Salutatorian of his graduating class as well as the Vice President of the National Honor Society, while maintaining First Honor Roll all 8 semesters of high school. Pliske's volleyball honors include Freshman Athletic Student of the Quarter, 2005 All-Metro Honorable Mention, as well as 2006 All-Metro First Team. Personal Matt is the son of Mike and Sue Pliske. He has three siblings, Jennifer, Michelle, and Scott. Majoring in biology/pre-med. |
