Tallied a career-best mark in kills (17) in back-to-back matches (Carthage and Rutgers-Newark) ... also posted then career-best numbers in digs (9) in back-to-back matches (Lewis and Grand Canyon) ... bettered that mark with 10 against Saint Francis (Apr. 9) ... career-high in blocks (6 assists) came in a five-set loss to Carthage (Jan. 23) ... posted 12 kills in an April 9 match with Saint Francis (Pa.) ... hit at a .500 clip in his homecoming trip against Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras (Mar. 11) ... played in 86 total sets on the year, totaling 205 kills (2.38 k/s) with 56 total blocks (8 BS, 48 BA) ... also finished fifth on the team in digs with 102 ... honored for his performances in the classroom as well, being named to the 2010 MIVA All-Academic Team.

2009 Season
Played in 23 sets on the season ... tallied 41 kills and an assist ... season totals of three service aces and 14 digs ... also posted eight blocks ... season-best nine kills came in a five-set win over P.R.-Rio Piedras (Jan. 9) ... also had a season-best four digs in the P.R.-Rio Piedras match (Jan. 9) ... logged two aces the following day in a three-set sweep of the Roosters (Jan. 10).

Played for coach Abdel Otero at the Baldwin School of Puerto Rico, Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Named to All-Aliance Member team.

Son of Ivan Matos and Ceida Fernandez. Has five siblings, Amanda, Mariana, Milena, Camilo and Gabriela. Majoring in biology.
