2006 Season Josh Collins started 19 of the 30 matches he played in during 2006. Registered 1.11 kills and 1.41 digs per match. Figured in on 44 total blocks in '06 (1 solo/43 assists). Fired off 12 aces. Hit a season-high .583 against Carthage on 4/22). Had a season-high 9 kills against Loyola on 4/7. Had a season-high 11 digs twice (2/17 vs. Ball State and 3/4 vs. Pacific. Blocked a season high six balls at Ball State on 3/18. Season-high three aces came against Long Beach State on 2/3. Hit .500 in the MIVA Championship match vs. Loyola-Chicago. 2005 Season Collins appeared in 27 of the Mastodons' 30 matches in 2005. He averaged 1.58 kills per game. He also averaged 1.04 digs per game. Collins also fired nine service aces, bettering his career mark of six. Hit a season-high .450 at Ball State on 2/25. In that same match, he had 11 kills, also a season-high. Dug up seven balls against Quincy on 4/8 and had a season-high four block assists at Mercyhurst on 3/11. 2004 Season Collins started 12 of his 25 matches. He recorded 139 kills, averaging 1.96 per game. Collins had 85 digs, two block solos, 26 block assists. Hit for double-figure kills four times, including a career-high 20 at Ohio State on 4/10. High School While at North Hastings High School, Collins played basketball, track & field, volleyball, co-ed volleyball, badminton, golf, and was on the swing dance team. Named MVP in badminton and volleyball from 1999-2003. Team captain of the volleyball squad, Collins was named MVP at every high school tournament that North Hastings competed in his senior year. Was named high-school "athlete of the year" four years in-a-row. In club volleyball, Collins was team captain, played three years on Regional Summer Games teams that captured Gold in 1999, 2000, and 2001. Captain of the Ontario Summer Games team that took Gold in 2002. Played on the Provinical "A" team and "B" teams that earned Gold in the Canadian summer games. Earned the "Ontario Award of Excellence" in 2001 and 2002. |
