Youngstown State, OH- In the first of three road matches this weekend, the IPFW men’s tennis team had little trouble against the Youngstown State, downing the Penguins 6-1 in Youngstown, Ohio, on Friday evening. The ‘Dons dominance began early, as the visiting team took the game’s double point. Since Youngstown State only competed one team, IPFW automatically earned a doubles match win. While dropping the No.1 doubles match, the Don duo of Junya Saruta and Luis Sanado Gama sealed the crucial doubles point after defeating Rob Emig and Chris Leson 8-4. With an early 1-0 lead, the Mastodons looked to expand its lead with a good showing in the singles competition. Needless to say, IPFW answered the call, winning all but one singles match. Felipe Gama, Luis Sanado, Junya Saruta and Eduardo Sztrajtman all earned victories in straight sets, clinching the victory for IPFW. The 'Dons picked up a win in the No. 6 singles slot due to forfeit. The Mastodons march onward in its road trip tomorrow afternoon with a pair of matches against St. Francis (PA) at 8:00 and Robert Morris at 3:00 p.m. in Loretto, Pennsylvania.
