Knitter Earns First IPFW Soccer Player of the Week Honor

Michael Knitter named Summit League Defender of the Week

Oct. 8, 2007

Elmhurst, IL - IPFW junior goal keeper Michael Knitter has been named the Summit League Men's Soccer Defender of the Week.

The local product from Carroll High School recorded his first shutout of the season by stopping 11 shots in IPFW's double overtime tie at Bowling Green on Sunday afternoon.

Knitter was playing in just his second match of the season after coming back from a leg injury.

Knitter's nod is the first Summit League Player of the Week honor for a Mastodon since joining the conference.

IUPUI's Louie Leger earns Offensive Player of the Week honors after scoring a pair of game-winning goals for the Jaguars last week.

In a 1-0 win over Marian College, he scored the game-winner in the 102nd minute. Against UMKC, he scored the second of four Jaguar goals as IUPUI remained undefeated in Summit League action. Leger had only one career goal and no game-winners entering the week.
