Post Game Quotes
Valparaiso  74    IPFW  64

Valparasio Head Coach Dr. Homer Drew

On his team's balanced scoring effort...

"Eight people with seven or more points, and that's a great example of the strength of this basketball team...our depth.  We have a number of people and they played very well, from freshman to the junior captain here (Jake Diebler), they just played very, very well together."

On the keys to winning the basketball game...

In the second half, I thought our players did a really did a wonderful job taking away easy baskets. Then, we got to control our defensive board and we didn't give up many second-chance shots, and I thought that was another key.  I really liked our ball handling.  We shared the ball, but we moved the ball really well."

IPFW Head Coach Dane Fife

Opening thoughts on the Valpo game...

"This was a classic case of being 'out-toughed'.  As a coaching staff, we've got to challenge these guys to be tougher.  I think you saw a perfect example of who we want to be...and that's the Valpo guards.  We cut the lead to three, they tightened (their defense) up, and we unwound.  We made three turnovers in-a-row after we cut it to three, and that was the key point in the game."

On moving on after the loss...

"I told our guys after the game 'We've got some good news and some bad news'.  The bad news is that we should have won that basketball game.  The good news is we've got 27 to go, and we've got a conference tournament to worry about, so let's take care of this non-conference we've got.  We've got some very, very difficult and challenging games coming up, but let's work on getting better and keep this positive and keep it going."
