Elmhurst, IL - The Summit League has honored senior Ryan Beer and juniors Kristina Karpun and Ali Okihiro in their latest feature of the conference's top student-athletes in the classroom. Beer, an infielder for coach Bobby Pierce and the Mastodons baseball squad, carries a 3.88 GPA as a Biology/Pre-Med major. Heavily involved in various community service efforts, Beer has never missed a Dean's List during his time at IPFW. A member of Tri-Beta, the Biology Honor Society and team representative on the Student Athletic Leadership Team (SALT), Beer hopes to continue his studies in med school upon graduation. Karpun, a native of Delta, British Columbia, handles the catching duties for the IPFW softball squad while holding down a 3.49 GPA in French and Biology. A former Summit League All-Tournament team selection, Summit League Player of the Week, and selection to the Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence, Karpun is a member of the Student Athletic Leadership Team (SALT). Okihiro splits her time as a defender on the women's soccer team and her studies as a Biology/Pre-Med major with a minor in Organizational Leadership & Supervision. Okihiro has never missed a start on the field or a Dean's List in the classroom since coming to IPFW in 2007. The team co-captain and president of the Student Athletic Leadership Team (SALT), Okihiro currently carries a 3.95 GPA.
