Bradenton, FL - Incoming IPFW junior hurler Brandon Knowling and senior outfielder/DH Aaron Kerns participated in the Florida Collegiate Instructional League All-Star game, played at the IMG Academies in Bradenton, Florida. The F.C.I.L. is comprised of six teams, which represent over 70 colleges and universities throughout the United States. Approximately 145 players are currently participating in the league at Pirate City (the spring training home of the Pittsburgh Pirates). The F.C.I.L. is the first wood bat league in the state of Florida. Knowling, a left handed pitcher out of Kaskaskia C.C., currently holds a 2.14 ERA with 21 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched. He is 2-0 during the summer. Knowling pitched a scoreless bottom of the fifth in the All-Star Classic, striking out two, walking one, and giving up no hits. Kerns, who will return to IPFW for his senior campaign, is currently hitting .306 with six RBI's. Kerns hit .255 with 12 RBI's in 94 at bats in 2007 for the Dons. He was the South's starting left fielder, but went hitless in three at-bats. Both IPFW products were part of the South squad that posted a 3-2 win over the North.
