Omaha, NE - IPFW second baseman Mark Carden has been named by Ping Baseball to its 2007 All-Freshman national team. Carden, a sophomore this coming season, was named honorable mention on the national listing. The 'Dons second-bagger hit .339 with one homer and 21 RBI in 2007. Carden also scored 30 times for the Mastodons and had an on-base percentage of .410. The Ping Baseball Freshman-of-the-year was Dustin Ackley of national runner-up North Carolina. The Tarheel's first baseman hit .427 and led Carolina in nearly every major offensive category, including stolen bases. Carden, and the Mastodons, begin their first season in the Summit League on February 29 at Georgia State. ~Dons~
