2008 Season
Walker made 17 appearances for IPFW in 2008. Led the team in saves with four.Those saves came at Soutern Utah (Apr. 4), vs. North Dakota State (Apr. 18), vs. CentenaryCollege (Apr. 27), and at Oakland (May 3). Posted a 5.62 era, striking out 21 while walking just nine in 32.0 innings of work. Threw a season high 5.0 innings at Southern Utah on April 5. He struck out a season high four in that ball game. Had putouts vs. Saint Louis (Mar. 14), Indiana (Mar. 23), and Southern Utah (Apr. 5). Had assists in two games; March 1 at Georgia State in his collegiate debut and April 13 at Western Illinois.
High School
Sam graduated from Lafayette Central Catholic. In 2004 and 2007 he won the Class A baseball state championship. He was a two time All-Area player, selected to the IHSBCA Junior All-Star team, and the IHSBCA North/South All-Star team. In basketball, Sam was All-Area and East/West All-Star, his team was twice semi-state runner-up and once as a regional runner-up.
Personal
Sam is son of Brian and Julie Walker. His father was a starter on the 1980 Purdue Final Four team and was selected Co-MVP with #1 draft pick Joe Barry Carroll. He has two siblings, Grace and Oliver. Sam is a Pre-Med-Biology major at IPFW.
