2008 Season
Segraves started 44 of the 49 games in which he appeared in his freshman campaign, mostly in right field for the Mastodons. He hit .241 with three home runs and 19 RBI. He had a slugging percentage of .319 and was successful in his only steal attempt. Had three-hit games twice in the 2008 season, April 25 vs. Centenary and May 9 vs. South Dakota State. Had a season-high four RBI vs. North Dakota State on April 20. Legged out his only triple of the season on May 17 vs. OralRoberts. Regisered a season-high seven putouts vs. Nortre Dame on April 23. Hadfour outfield assists in a weekend series at Georgia State on Feb. 29-Mar. 1.
High School
Garrett graduated in the top 10 of his class at Lewis Cass High School, where 2006 IPFW graduate Tyler Fowler and current Mastodon Mark Carden attended. Garrett was voted four-time All-Conference, All-Area, All-State and Team MVP. Garrett was selected as the IHSBCA Junior of the Year and as participant in the IHSBCA North/South All-Star series his senior was voted the MVP of the series. In football, Garret was on the North/South All-Star team, while being voted the Class 2A Player of the Year. He was an All-Conference, All-Area, and All-State three years in a row. His team won three conference championships and one regional championship. In basketball, he was 1st team All-Conference and All-Area in 2007, and team MVP in 2006 and 2007. He won two sectional championships and one conference championship. Garrett was an honor rool student, as well as a National Honors Society member at Lewis Cass.
Personal
Garrett is the son of David and Robin Seagraves, his sister Lynnsey was a three-time National Champion diver at Auburn University.
