Garett Lake Records Four Hits in Loss to Tennessee Tech

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Garett Lake recorded a career-high four hits on Sunday (March 6) but it came in a losing effort for the Purdue Fort Wayne baseball team at Tennessee Tech 15-7.
Lake came a home run short of the cycle with two doubles, a triple and a single. He scored three times and knocked in two.
Cade Fitzpatrick went 2-for-2 with a home run, two walks and an RBI. Junior Ben Higgins also chipped in for Purdue Fort Wayne, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate with a home run, a walk and an RBI. The long balls for Higgins and Fitzpatrick were their first in a Mastodon uniform.
The 'Dons got on the board in the third and added four more in the fourth. The four-run fourth was highlighted by a two-run triple off the bat of Lake as well as a Higgins home run. It brought the score to 11-5 in favor of the Golden Eagles after Tennessee Tech scored four in the first and six in the second to open a lead.
Isaiah Hart knocked in Lake in the sixth and Fitzpatrick's hit a two-out solo home run in the seventh to round out the scoring.

» Jacob Myer (0-3) started and suffered the loss for the 'Dons.
» Purdue Fort Wayne had chances, but left 11 runners stranded.
» Kevin Fee and Rex Stills each threw a scoreless inning in relief.
» Tennessee Tech's Jason Hinchman went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and four RBIs.
» Brock Myers led the Golden Eagles' pitching staff, throwing 4.1 innings of two-run ball to finish the game and get the save.
