
Fort Wayne Women's Soccer Adds Six Recruits to 2017 Class

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Fort Wayne women's soccer program picked up six commitments, which head coach Jason Burr announced on Friday (Feb. 3). Jessica Schoenfeldt, Baylee Kramer, Gabrielle Fanning, Kailyn Wade, Amanda Cruz and Cesiley LaCourt will all be joining the squad for the 2017 season.
"We are extremely thrilled to have them joining us as the newest members of the Fort Wayne women's soccer family," Burr said. "Not only do they embody every characteristic that we prioritize in our players, but their commitment to their academics and involvement in the community is equally impressive."

Schoenfeldt (Attacking Midfielder - 5-8 - Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South High School - Crystal Lake Force) earned four letters while playing under head coach Diego Cevallos. Schoenfeldt was selected as a member of the All-Conference and All-Area teams in 2015 and 2016. In 2016, she was selected as a Player of the Year finalist. Schoenfeldt helped lead the Gators to a regional championship, a conference championship and a sectional championship in 2016. Crystal Lake South also won the conference title in 2014. Off the field, Schoenfeldt was a member of the Captain's Council and the SALT program.
Kramer (Center Back - 5-9 - Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central High School - Crystal Lake Force) earned three letters under head coach Sarah Fack. Kramer was a member of the first-team All-Conference and second-team All-Area in 2014. During the 2016 season, Kramer played for Canton High School, where she helped push the Giants to a state runner-up finish. Kramer also played varsity basketball for her freshman and sophomore seasons. Kramer was a member of the honor roll.
Fanning (Defender - 5-4 - Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge High School - Crystal Lake Force) played varsity soccer for three years, earning a slew of athletic honors, including a runner-up finish for the 2016 Northwest Herald Girls Soccer Player of the Year, a selection for the 2016 Chicagoland Soccer All-State Watch List and selections for the 2016 All-Conference, All-Area and All-Sectional teams. Her team at Prairie Ridge was the sectional and regional champion in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Fanning also participated in basketball and track during her high school career. Off the field, Fanning was a member of the German club, and received the 2016 National German Exam Achievement Award.
Wade (Midfielder/Defender - 5-3 - Windsor, Ontario Canada/W.F. Herman Academy - Nationals Union) played for Gerald Lewis at W.F. Herman Academy, where the squad was the 2016 State Cup champions. Wade was a Silver Medalist at the International Children's Games in 2013, and a captain for the International Children's Games soccer team in 2014. in 2016, Wade was the top goal-scorer on her squad. In addition to soccer, Wade competed in varsity basketball from 2014-2016, during which she received the Coaches Award. She also was the 2014 volleyball MVP. Away from the field of play, Wade was an honor roll recipient in 2014, 2014 and 2016.
Cruz (Forward - 5-7 - San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente High School - Southern California Blues) was a three-year letter winner under head coach Lauren Leslie. In the 2016 season, Cruz was a selection for the All-Conference third team, and became a team captain in the following season. She was a scholar athlete in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Cruz received designation in the principal's honor roll in 2014, 2015 and 2016. In 2016, she also qualified for the superintendent's honor roll.
LaCourt (Outside Defender - 5-3 - Rockford, Mich./Rockford High School - Alliance Academy) won three letters while playing for head coach Scott Green. LaCourt was the team captain for her final two seasons, which led to LaCourt's designation as a selection for each of the 2015 and 2016 All Conference and All-District teams. Se was also the team MVP in 2016. Off the field, LaCourt earned four academic letters.
"The '17s will be a group that certainly has a major impact on the direction of this program over the next few years," Burr said. "We anticipate positive things in the near future as a direct result of their addition to our current players."
