
Women's Soccer Reloads with a Dozen Signees

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – IPFW women's soccer head coach Jason Burr recently announced the addition of a dozen student-athletes for the 2016 season. Joining the Mastodons are Vanessa Chaparro, Claire Cody, Amanda Cook, Chloee Foor, Emily Hayner, Randi Jannette, Hannah Kroger, Lauren Lawrence, Gabrielle Mann, Kendall Quinn, Reyse Stirrett, and Jensen Stroinski.
"Kelsey, Krysta and I could not be more excited to be bringing this outstanding group of student-athletes into the IPFW women's soccer family," said Burr. "Each of them brings something unique into our program and university and we expect every one of them to have an immediate positive impact here at IPFW. Additionally, when our coaching staff started recruiting this class we identified two intangibles: an incredibly high work rate and a strong competitive spirit. These two aspects are crucial for future Soccer-'Dons to be successful here and we believe each of them are going to excel in those two areas as they impact all facets of their lives, including their academics, athletic career, and social involvement. This group is going to help bring even more positive momentum to our program which we experienced in 2015 and will continue to build a foundation of success for IPFW women's soccer in the Summit League for the foreseeable future."
Chaparro, a 5-4 defender from Henderson, Nevada, joins the 'Dons after attending Coronado high school. While playing club soccer, Chaparro helped the Heat FC win the Vegas Cup and Mayors Cup, while making an ENCL playoff appearance in 2013-14. Chaparro is currently earning an advanced diploma while also being a member of the AP Academy at Coronado. Chaparro intends to study biology at IPFW so that she may work in sports medicine.
Cody, a 5-6 midfielder/forward from Jacksonville, Illinois, joins IPFW after being a three-time All-Conference selection for the Central State Eight and an All-Sectional selection while playing at Jacksonville high school. While at Jacksonville, Cody earned 60 career goals with 28 assists. Cody also played club soccer with the St. Louis Scott Gallagher (SLSG), earning a third-place finish in the ECNL National Playoffs.
Cook, a 5-9 goalkeeper from Sycamore, Illinois, joins the Blue and White after being a two-year captain at Sycamore high and playing club soccer with the Northern Illinois Football Club (NIFC). In 2014, Cook was a Second Team All-Area selection, while being named to the Northern Illinois Big 12 Team, ODP State Team, and Academic All-Conference.
Foor, a 5-7 forward from Fenton, Michigan, joins the Mastodons after being named an All-State honorable mention at Fenton high school. Foor earned numerous recognitions while at Fenton, including First Team All-League (2014-15), All-Region (2014-15), All-District (2013-15), and Second Team All-League (2013). Additionally, Foor helped her club soccer team, Waza FC East, win the 2014 Michigan State Cup and earn a third-place finish nationally. Foor intends to study dental hygiene while at IPFW.
Hayner, a 5-4 defender from Freeport, Illinois, comes to IPFW after being named the Most Valuable Defensive Player at Freeport high school. Hayner was also named to the NIC-10 All-Conference Team (2014-15), All-Sectional (2015), and Best Freeport HS Newcomer (2013). Hayner, the younger sister of current IPFW defender Allyson Hayner, intends to study biology.
Jannette, a 5-7 defender from Ortonville, Michigan, joins the 'Dons after being a two-year captain at Brandon high school. Jannette has been named First Team All-Flint Metro League (2014-15), First Team All-District (2014-15), First Team All-Region (2014-15), All-State honorable mention (2014-15), All-Oakland County honorable mention (2014-15), and honorable mention Flint Metro League (2013). Additionally, Jannette is a five-time Flint Metro League Scholar and played with Waza FC East for a club team.
Kroger, a 5-6 midfielder/forward from Mission Viejo, California, joins the Blue and White after helping Capistrano Valley high school win back-to-back championships in the Sea View League in 2013-14. Kroger also helped her club soccer team, So Cal Blues, win the Cal South National Cup in 2013, while being a Far West Regional Quarterfinalist in 2014. A two-time scholar athlete, Kroger intends to study mechanical engineering.
Lawrence, a 5-7 defender from Swartz Creek, Michigan, joins the 'Dons after being a three-time First Team All-Flint Metro League (2013-15) honoree at Swartz Creek high school. Lawrence was also named All-District (2013-15), All-Region (2013-15), and All-State honorable mention (2013, 2015). While playing club soccer with Waza FC East, Lawrence was named Top Drawer Soccer's Best 11 pick at the Disney Showcase (2014-15), while helping the team win the Michigan State Cup in 2014, finishing third nationally.
Mann, a 5-4 forward from Portland, Indiana, comes to IPFW after setting the Jay County high school record for most career goals (63) and goals scored in a season (31). Mann helped Jay County win back-to-back Sectional championships (2013-14) while being named the Offensive MVP each year. The 2013 Sectional championship was the first in Jay County history. In 2014, Mann was named First Team All-Allen County Athletic Conference, Indiana Soccer Coaches Association (ISCA) District 3 Showcase Team, and ISCA Top Team Player. Mann was Academic All-State and the East Central Indiana High School Girls Player to Watch in 2014 and 2015. While playing club soccer, Mann helped the Fort Wayne United FC Academy win the Indiana State Cup and MRL championship, while reaching the Indiana State Cup Semifinals in 2014. Mann intends to study elementary education.
Quinn, a 5-5 midfielder from Kentwood, Michigan, joins the Mastodons after earning Ottawa-Kent Red All-Conference and All-State honorable mention with East Kentwood high school. Additionally, Quinn played club soccer with Midwest United FC. A four-time All-Academic and a member of the National Honor Society, Quinn intends to study business.
Stirrett, a 5-3 midfielder from Plainfield, Illinois, joins the Blue and White after helping Plainfield North high school win the Southwest Prairie Conference championship in three-consecutive years (2013-15). Stirrett was an All-Conference honoree in 2014 and 2015, while being named the Most Improved Player (2014) and All-Sectional honorable mention (2015). Stirrett, a four-year honor roll member, played club soccer with the Naperville Soccer Association (NSA) Lasers.
Stroinski, a 5-6 forward from Granger, Indiana, comes to IPFW after setting the school record for career assists (72) while at Penn high school. Stroinski, a two-year captain, helped Penn reach the state championships in 2015, semifinals in 2013, and regional finals in 2014. Stroinski has been named First Team All-Conference (2013-15), First Team All-District (2014-15), and All-State honorable mention in 2015. Stroinski played club soccer with Jr. Irish SC/Elkhart County United and intends to study elementary education/special education.
During the 2015 season, the Mastodons set a new program record for the longest-consecutive unbeaten streak at six matches. Junior goalkeeper Kiley Dunning finished the season fourth nationally in total saves (137) and seventh nationally in saves per match (7.21).
