
Mastodons Shut Out in Exhibition Opener at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The IPFW Mastodons played a scoreless second half, but a two-goal opening 45 minutes did the squad in, as the 'Dons fell 2-0 in their exhibition opener against the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Freshman goalkeeper Raphael Kotzock picked up eight saves in the loss, as the Buckeyes peppered the IPFW goal with 11 shots in the opening 45 minutes of action, with two - one from Alex Bujenovic and another from Max Moller - finding the back of the net.
After being out-shot 11-3 in the opening half, IPFW fought back and took five shots in the second half.
Sophomore Austin West took three shots for the Mastodons - two on goal - while five others: Kyle Ackerman, Jose Rodriguez, Jacob Murphy, Stephen Danielian, and Brenden Gonzalez, each had one shot.
Ohio State's Andrian McAdams picked up the shutout victory in the goal, saving five shots while Moller and Bujenovic took four and three shots apiece on the offensive end, as Alex Lowell added three shot attempts on the contest. Yianni Sarris had a hand in each of the OSU goals, while Bujenovic also assisted on the second score.
The Mastodons return to action on Saturday, August 24, when the team hosts the Valparaiso Crusaders at 5 p.m. in the Shindigz National Soccer Festival hosted at the Hefner Soccer Complex.
