Mastodons Top 100 Points in Win Over Indiana Tech

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's basketball team make easy work of Summit City foe Indiana Tech, topping the century mark for the first time this season, 101-45, improvong their record to 5-6 on the year.
Haley Seibert led all players with 20 points, 15 of which came from downtown. Amanda Hyde scored in double figured with 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting, while grabbing six rebounds and dishing out four assists. Ariana Simmons added 12 points to go along with a game-high seven rebounds and three steals while handing out three assists.
Rachel Mauk also scored in double-digits for the Mastodons with 10 points and matching Hyde with four assists. Rachel Rinehart, Stefanie Mauk and Brett Green all contributed off the bench with nine points. In all, 12 different players scored for IPFW.
Indiana Tech would jump out to an early advantage scoring seven straight points to lead 7-2 in the opening minutes. The 'Dons would answer with a three by Seibert and Hyde connected on and and-one opportunity to give IPFW a 10-9 lead. Seibert then hit back-to-back three-pointers to stretch the Mastodon lead as IPFW would go on a 16-0 run to push their lead to 20-9 midway through the half.
The Mastodon defense held Indiana Tech without a field goal for another four minutes-11:20 total without a field goal-as they continued on a 9-0 run, doubling up the Warriors 46-23 at halftime.
After giving up a couple of early baskets, the Mastodon defense would go to work again, holding the Warriors scoreless over a three minute stretch, pushing their lead to 73-34 with 10 minutes to play before closing out the half on a 28-11 run, surrendering just eight Warrior field goals in the half.
As a team, IPFW shot a season-high 59% (36-of-61) from the floor, while limiting Indiana Tech to just 18-of-65 (27.7%), a defensive season-best for the 'Dons. The Mastodons hit 11-of-22 from three-point range while connected on 18-of-26 (69.2%) from the free throw line.
IPFW will next host SIU Edwardsville on December 14 at 4:30 p.m. as the first game of a double header with the men's team.
