FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW women's basketball team will open the 2012-13 season at home against SIU Edwardsville on Sunday, Nov. 11. Fans will be able to watch the team play live on multiple occasions throughout the first two months of the season as the 'Dons play 11 of their first 14 games in the state of Indiana.
The second game of the year will feature IPFW playing against Grace at the Memorial Coliseum on Tuesday, Nov. 13. The contest is the first part of a scheduled doubleheader with the men's team hosting Rochester College at 8 p.m. The game between IPFW and Grace will be the only game of the season to be held at Memorial Coliseum.
The first road trip of the season will be played in Muncie, Ind. as the team will face Ball State on Nov. 18. The final home game during the month of November will be against Coastal Carolina on Nov. 24. The 'Dons end the opening stretch of the schedule with back-to-back away games at Indiana and Southern Illinois.
The beginning of December will be a good test for IPFW as many quality opponents appear on the schedule. Home games against Valparaiso and Purdue will kick off the excitement, followed by road games at SIU Edwardsville and Michigan State. Detroit and Rochester College will serve as the final pair of opponents to visit the Gates Sports Center before Summit League action begins.
The second part of the season is the most important as the Summit League schedule begins to unfold. IUPUI and Western Illinois will mark the beginning of league play as they visit Fort Wayne on Dec. 28 and 30 respectively.
IPFW will travel to Omaha, Neb. to start the New Year as they take on the newest member of the Summit League, Nebraska Omaha. The Mavericks joined the league after the departure of Oral Roberts and Southern Utah.
January also features home contests against North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Oakland and Nebraska Omaha. Road games include trips to South Dakota, who will be eligible for post-season play for the first time, and UMKC.
The end of the 2012-13 schedule will be challenging as the Mastodons will have to get used to life on the road. Away games at South Dakota State and North Dakota State are featured in the beginning of February. The final home games of the season will be played against UMKC and South Dakota on Feb. 14 and Feb. 16 respectively.
The trio of Oakland, Western Illinois and IUPUI will round out the regular season as the Summit League Tournament is set for March 9-12 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
