
Track & Field Closes Out 2012 Season

FARGO, N.D. - Kaylin Taylor set a new school record in the 400-meter hurdles, placing fourth overall, as the IPFW Mastodons closed the 2012 Summit League Championships in ninth place of 10 competing teams.
North Dakota State won the event with 193 points, while South Dakota was second with 164. Southern Utah (114), Oral Roberts (97), South Dakota State (89), Western Illinois (56.50), UMKC (54), and Oakland (28.50) out-scored the Mastodons' 23 points, while IUPUI, who is competing in the Championships for the first time, were shut out.
IPFW got a school-record performance from Taylor, who ran the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:04.95, placing fourth in the event, missing All-Conference honors by just over a second.
The Mastodons had two competitors score in the discus, as Courtney Bowen took seventh (147-feet, 11-inches) and Kayla Zink eighth (147-feet, 6-inches), earning IPFW three points in the process.
In the 5,000-meter run, Sarah Hutchings paced the IPFW squad by placing 16th in a time of 17:55.73, while Jordan Tomecek and Amaya Ayers finished back-to-back in times of 18:44.11 and 18:47.46, placing the pair 27th and 28th, respectively.
Kayla Boyes took 24th in the 1,500-meter run, running the three and three-quarters lap race in a time of 4:58.99.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Courtney Hodgen, Olivia Trimble, Nicole Urdahl, and Madelaine Bacyznski placed ninth in a time of 52.69, as the 4x400-meter relay team of Taylor, Boyes, Emily Craig, and Julie Jeszenszky placed ninth in a time of 4:11.22.
