
Hutchings Takes Fourth in Steeple at 2012 Championships

FARGO, N.D. - The IPFW Track & Field team got four points from Sarah Hutchings in the 3,000-meter steeple chase, running the second-fastest time in program history, as the Mastodons closed day two of the Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Championships in eighth place with 15 total points.
North Dakota State sits in first place in the field with 90 points, while South Dakota (62), Southern Utah (44), South Dakota State (42), Western Illinois (36.5), Oral Roberts (36), and Oakland (17.5) just ahead of IPFW, while UMKC (8) sits in ninth place overall.
Sarah Hutchings earned five points for the Mastodons in the 3,000-meter steeple chase, running a time of 10:44.47, the second-fastest time in program history, behind her own school record set earlier this year.
Emily Craig placed 16th in the preliminaries in the open 400-meter dash, sprinting the one-lap race in a time of 1:02.74, a new collegiate-best for the freshman.
Nicole Urdahl set a new personal-best in the 100-meter hurdles, sprinting to a time of 16.49 seconds, placing 14th overall.
Kaylin Taylor narrowly missed a collegiate-best in the 100-meter dash, running to a time of 12.92, while Courtney Hodgen placed 17th in a time of 13.26.
Kayla Zink's toss of 40-feet (12.19 meters) placed her 17th in the field, and third best toss in program history.
Julia Jeszenszky placed 19th in the 800-meter run preliminaries, crossing the tape in the two-lap race in 2:22.34.
Katy Moore narrowly missed scoring in the high jump, clearing a height of 5-feet, 0.5-inches (1.54 meters), placing her 11th in the field.
The competition concludes on Saturday, in the third and final day of the Championships.
