Men's Soccer Adds Two in 2012 Class

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - IPFW head men's soccer coach Mike Harper has added two more players to the 2012 class, the fifth-year coach announced Thursday. Corey Tom and Randy Maksimik will suit up for the Royal Blue and White this fall.

Tom, a native of Fort Wayne, Ind., signed with the Mastodons after an outstanding prep career at Carroll High School. A three-year starter for the Chargers, Tom earned all-conference honors from 2009-2011, while being named to the all-area team in 2010 and 2011. He helped lead Carroll to three sectional titles and two regional championships, scoring the game-winning goal in the 2011 regional finals to beat rival Homestead in overtime. Named team captain as a senior, Tom was a 2011 ESPN High School All-State Selection and garnered Indiana All-State honorable mention honors. At the club level, he was named team captain of the Fort Wayne Fever, where he guided the team to a 2011 Indiana State Cup title.

Randy Maksimik
Lake Central, Ind.
Defender

Maksimik, who hails from Lake Central, Ind., will join the Mastodon roster after a four-year high school career at Lake Central High School. A member of the 2010 Lake Central state championship team, Maksimik scored two goals against Cathedral, including the game-winner, to send the Indians past the Irish. Aside from a state championship crown, he helped the Indians to four sectional titles, two regional trophies and two semi-state appearances. Team captain as a senior, Maksimik was a two-time all-conference selection, while also being tabbed to the the Post Tribune and NWI Times All-Area teams in 2010-2011. He competed for the MSA Vardar Club Team, leading the squad to a 2011 State Cup runner-up finish.

Tom and Maksimik bring the IPFW men's soccer 2012 class to six players, along with Colson Wagoner, Tyler Secrist, Jose Rodriguez and Jackson Tooke.
