Men's Basketball Hosts Oral Roberts on Senior Night

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - On Wednesday, February 15, the Mastodons host their first and last game in the month of February, as Oral Roberts comes to town in senior night for the four IPFW seniors; Jason Smeathers, John Peckinpaugh, Antwaun Boyd, and Trey McCorkle.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES
Oral Roberts comes into the mid-week game with a 23-5 overall record, and sitting with a two-game lead in Summit League play. This is the last trip for the Golden Eagles to Fort Wayne as members of The Summit League, as ORU is scheduled to join the Southland Conference for the 2012-13 season.
This year the team is led by senior guard Dominique Morrison, who averages 20.5 points per game, 12th most in the country, while three others, Warren Niles (11.6), Michael Craion (11.0), and Steven Roundtree (10.6) average over ten points per game. Damen Bell-Holter and Roderick Pearson are close to the double-figure plateau, averaging 8.1 points per game, each.
Craion pulls down a team-best 6.3 rebounds per game, as the Golden Eagles out-rebound their opponents by 3.6 rebounds per game. Pearson has dished out a team-best 104 assists, as Craion has 43 steals and 19 blocked shots to lead the team.
Oral Roberts out-scores its opponents by an average of eight points per game, and has toppled Xavier and Texas Tech during the year.

The Oakland Golden Grizzlies ran off a 20-2 run in the middle of the second half, turning a 51-50 IPFW lead into a 70-53 Grizzly advantage, and IPFW was never able to re-gain the lead in a 93-82 loss that saw Frank Gaines and Jonny Marlin each tie their career highs in points.
Gaines scored 30 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the field and 4-of-7 from long range, while pulling down six rebounds and dishing out four assists. Marlin went 3-of-6 from the field and 3-of-5 from three-point range en-route to his 13 points, while tying for the team-high with four assists. Trey McCorkle also reached double-figures for IPFW with 10 points while pulling down seven rebounds and dishing out four assists.
Justin Jordan narrowly missed double-figure scoring with nine points, as Michael Kibiloski scored seven and Antwaun Boyd five. IPFW out-rebounded the Grizzlies 36-to-32, and the 'Dons made 45.2 percent (28-of-62) of their shots, and 10-of-24 from long range (41.7 percent), while making 80 percent (16-of-20) at the charity stripe.

Leading 31-29 at halftime, the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles out-scored IPFW by 13 points in the second half, behind 21 second-half tallies from Dominique Morrison, as the Eagles topped the 'Dons 65-54 at the Mabee Center.
Frank Gaines scored a team-high 17 points, making 6-of-10 shots from the field, while Trey McCorkle scored 11, and Antwaun Boyd eight.
