FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW women's basketball team returned to practice this week in preparation for the 2012-13 season. Many new faces were on the court as this year's team features nine underclassmen to go along with four juniors.
The combination of Amanda Hyde, Erin Murphy, Rachel Mauk and Stefanie Mauk will serve as team leaders this year as the Mastodons enter the season without a senior on the roster. Head Coach Chris Paul will look for this unit to lead by example and bring energy to each practice.
The sophomore class is also composed of four student-athletes as Mur Hagerman and Haley Seibert join forwards Hillary Moore and Rebecca Bruner to add depth to the roster. Hagerman joined the team midway through last season as a transfer from Wright State. Seibert, Moore, and Bruner all saw playing time as true freshmen.
A large freshman class rounds out the roster as the coaching staff brought in five new players for the 2012-13 season. After losing Stephanie Rosado to graduation the 'Dons brought in four freshman that stand over 6'0”. Danielle Wilmoth is the tallest of the recruits standing at 6'4”. Hannah Lee and Courtney Ogle both come to campus after playing high school basketball in Indiana, but the final two freshmen had to travel as Alexis Richards joins the team from Miami, Fla. and Arriel Anderson comes over from Bellwood, Ill.
