NORMAN, Okla. - For the second consecutive year, the IPFW men's golf team has been honored by the Golf Coaches' Association of America (GCAA) as one of the top academic programs in the country.
As a team, the Mastodons posted a 3.34 cumulative GPA, averaging well-above the 3.0 GPA requirement. IPFW was the lone Summit League team to receive the honor, joining 58 other Division-I schools on the prestigious list.
"I am thrilled that our team continues to be leaders in the classroom," said IPFW men's head golf coach Billy King. "They all work extremely hard. This is the second-straight year we have been named as an All-Academic Team. I am very proud to be their coach."
Earlier this summer, Drew Imel, Tomaz Pinheiro, Bruno Carvalho, Ryan Olbin, Jacob Bailey, Adam Turney and John McMillen represented the men's golf program on the 2011 Winter/Spring Academic All-League Team.
To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college of university must submit the grade points earned and hours attempted for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
