Fort Wayne, IN - IPFW head men's basketball coach Tony Jasick has announced the addition of Jon Coffman to his coaching staff.
Coffman comes to IPFW after two seasons as the top assistant at Colgate University in the Patriot League.
At Colgate, Coffman coordinated all aspects of the Raiders recruiting efforts including player evaluations, home visits and on-campus visits. Also as Colgate's top assistant, Coffman managed all basketball related administrative tasks, organized and planned daily practices and workouts and assisted in all aspects of game coaching.
Prior to his stint at Colgate, Coffman coached for eight seasons on the staff of Derek Waugh at Stetson University.
Coffman's duties at Stetson included working with the guards, opponent scouting, fund raising, camps, and coordinating recruiting. He started one of the largest team camps in the state of Florida, which drew schools from every corner of the state. He also ran the largest Elite Camp in the state that upgraded Stetson's recruiting efforts in the state of Florida.
"I am excited to have Jon and Tracy Coffman join our basketball family," coach Jasick said. "When I started this process, I wanted to bring in someone who had a proven track record of success in many areas. Jon is a hard working, loyal guy who has recruited and coached quality student-athletes everywhere he's been. I believe that our current and future players are really going to benefit from this addition to our coaching staff."
"I am excited about the opportunity to join Coach Jasick and the IPFW coaching staff," Coffman noted. I am looking forward to being a part of a program that is on the rise and helping build on its past tradition and recent success."
Coffman graduated from Washington & Lee University, earning a bachelor's degree in both Economics and Environmental Science. He was also a three-year starter for the Generals basketball team and captain of the 1995-96 squad. He still holds three school records, including the mark for most three-pointers in a game (7).
Coffman began his coaching career in 1997 at Emory & Henry College in Emory, Va. as the top assistant. He also spent a year on the coach staff at the College of Charleston.
