Fort Wayne, IN - Ontario native Jason Mills has signed his National Letter of Intent and will join a strong incoming class for Head Coach Mike Harper's program.
A native of Richmond Hill, a Toronto suburb, and soon to be graduate of St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic High School, Mills brings an impressive club soccer resume to Fort Wayne. A member of the ANB Futbol club that won the 2008 Soccer Academy Alliance League Championship, Mills carried his high school team to an OFSAA bronze medal in 2009 and gold medal in 2010.
His strong play has attracted the attention of numerous club teams throughout Europe, as the 6-0 forward has been invited to try-outs for the past three seasons in France and Spain.
"We're thrilled to be bringing in a player of Jason's ability," said IPFW head coach Mike Harper. "He is a very composed player that has the ability to hold the ball and create scoring opportunities for us. He is going to make a big impact on our team up top right away and, along with Max [Touloute], we should have a very deadly attack in the Fall."
Mills is the eighth member of the incoming class of 2011. Among those signed, he is the fourth Canadian and lone attacker.
The eight newcomers will join Indiana University transfer goalkeeper Ryan Bristol in rounding out the nine-player class. They join a team that finished the 2011 season 2-13-2 overall.
